Position Title: Software Engineer II
External Description:
WHAT A DEVOPS MONITORING ENGINEER DOES
Design, configure and support all monitoring environments; that analyze the processes for year-over-year metrics and machine data and develop improvements
Troubleshoot application and development server infrastructure at different layers, including network, load balancing, operating system and application that are part of the core monitoring environments.
Participate in an on-call rotation to support feature launches, live events, and critical-level incident escalations
Evaluate and adopt technologies that improve the team efficiency and platform capabilities
Work with a global team to support our creators and developers
Ensure appropriate monitoring is in place to detect and troubleshoot the problem
Assist operations when necessary related to incidents in a postmortem process to ensure preventative measures are put into place where there are monitoring and alerting process gaps.
Use industry-standard CI/CD tools to build pipelines that automate common operational tasks
WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
4+ years of relevant experience with design, deployment, and support of Linux-based server infrastructures
Experience with DevOps methodologies and technologies, (Docker, Chef, Ansible)
Good working familiarity with log parsing methods (e.g, Splunk, elasticsearch) and metrics store solutions (e.g, influx, cortex, graphite, datadog)
Collaboration, Automation, Lean, Measurement and Sharing
Experience developing workflow automations and tools using programming languages such as: Python, Java or JavaScript
Working knowledge of version control systems such as GIT or Perforce
Experience of common scripting (Shell, Bash)
Have a security-conscious mindset for server infrastructure design, using the principle of least privilege wherever possible
Understand the purpose and operation of the protocols that support TCP/IP-networked infrastructures
Experience with public cloud hosting services with an API-oriented approach to programmatically manage resources
