Position Title: Technical Director I

External Description:

Technical Director (Live Services) 

EA Sports is looking for a Technical Director who is passionate about making great games with a collaborative team of experienced developers. You will lead the engineering component of the team and provide technical direction to senior technical leads. As a Technical Director, you will report to a member of Senior Leadership in the Madden franchise and work with other product leaders and technical partners across the organization.

You will have experience creating games with a live service that persists well after the title launches. They would have experience directing other leads and working with partners across an organization to achieve outstanding server reliability and improving game performance, stability, and quality with each update. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Set project technical standards. 
  • Establish high-level architecture, technical budgets, and targets for performance metrics. 
  • Oversee project technical design and implementation.
  • Direct the team that monitors and troubleshoot live service issues.
  • Ensure the quality, performance, and stability for each live update. 
  • Audit technical quality of all major project milestones, identifying technical gaps and risks.
  • Work with the team to ensure our service is stable and available at and after launch. 
  • Improve team efficiency through identifying bottlenecks and proposing solutions.
  • Manage technical requirements and risks.
  • Collaborate and manage partnerships with internal technical partners.
  • Implement and run release management for a live service.
  • Provide line management to employees within the discipline.
  • Work as part of the game leadership team.
  • Establish and advocate for a long-term technical road map and vision. 
  • Partner with production on development processes and planning

Qualifications

  • 10+ years software development experience.
  • 5+ years of technical leadership experience.
  • Leadership experience developing and launching games or running a large-scale live service.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
