Job description

For a long time, the opportunity to create ground-breaking design and story-telling has been limited by the possibilities of the technology available. Now, we are in an unprecedented time where tech has finally caught up to our imagination.

At Darewise, we’re a team of passionate game developers, eager to push the boundaries of online gaming experiences like never before, and we need a World Designer who wants to develop something with purpose, style and execution.

Our world will be central to the overall gaming experience so your efforts will have a huge impact on the player as they break ground and explore the planet Corvus.

If laying down the world and sitting back enthralled at the stories each player creates sounds exciting, then this is the opportunity for you!

Please note that this position is either full-time on-site in Paris - or you can work remotely from your home anywhere in Europe.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support various player activities through leading World design practises and methods
  • Block out world design and level design (in-game structures and player construction system designs) and biomes with environment artists
  • Define dynamic resource and content placement workflow with system design and tech
  • Enhance sense of immersion in the game world in line with the narrative
  • Support continuous live development design through iterative design using telemetry and analytics
  • Create and implement dynamic events to ensure engagement in the world

BENEFITS

  • Competitive salary (based on experience) with stock options*
  • 35 days off per year
  • Flexible working scheme

  • Relocation package including EU working visa assistance if necessary
  • Public + private health insurance*
  • Profit share scheme
  • 50% refund of your public transport card*
  • Work within a small, highly motivated team who are passionate to succeed
  • Get the most comfortable and efficient work environment (Herman Miller chairs and standing desks)*
  • Monthly team building events in Paris
  • Quarterly offsite events with the whole Darewise team
  • Visit your coworkers in other countries for free (up to twice a year)
  • Become part of an inclusive and experienced international team

*some benefits may vary based on your location

Preferred experience

  • 2+ years of experience as a World Designer or in a similar role
  • Acute sense of what makes exploration meaningful and rewarding
  • Experience designing replayable spaces
  • Knowledge of procedural world design best practices
  • Ability to integrate player creations in design solutions

  • Demonstrable portfolio of games and worlds at high quality

Also nice to have:
