Scopely is looking for a Senior Unity Engineer to join an unannounced project within our MAX gaming Division, working from one of our North America based studios, or remotely within the US.

We are in the development stages of one of our new unannounced projects, and are looking for passionate game makers to collaborate, get in early and make their mark on this exciting venture!

What You Will Do

As a Senior Unity Engineer on our game team, you will play a critical role in both the design and implementation of game systems and features using Unity. Your role is pivotal in ensuring that our game is not only fun and engaging, but will also excel in stability and performance across all platforms and devices. Responsibilities will include:

  • Unity Development: Drive Unity-based game development, integrating features and systems. Work closely with the team, setting and adhering to architectural patterns
  • Optimization and Performance: Optimize game performance for multiple platforms, focusing on efficiency and smooth gameplay through best practices and advanced profiling / troubleshooting
  • Tool/Framework Development: Create and maintain Unity tools and frameworks to enhance team productivity and enable rapid, quality feature development
  • Strategic Technical Leadership: Guide technical strategy and best practices in software development for code quality and scalability. Make strategic project decisions
  • Collaboration and Communication: Promote teamwork and clear communication, addressing technical challenges and supporting Scopely's culture
  • Mentorship and Team Development: Mentor peers, share best practices, and guide through code reviews to improve team capabilities
  • Requirements Gathering: Engage in requirement gathering and project estimation, aligning with project objectives
  • Security: Implement security measures and anti-cheat mechanisms to protect the game from exploits and cheating


What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ Years of Experience: Minimum 5 years in software development, with a focus on game development, technical design, and implementation using Unity
  • Technical Expertise: Strong skills in C# and Unity, underpinned by a robust understanding of software engineering principles
  • Game Development Track Record: Proven experience in developing and launching games or features in Unity, with knowledge of game system architecture and optimization
  • Mobile Development: Experience in creating high-quality experiences across mobile devices
  • Strategic and Analytical: Ability to think strategically and solve complex problems, aligning solutions with team and company objectives
  • Leadership: Proven leadership and mentorship abilities, capable of driving team efforts and fostering collaboration
  • Quality and Security: Commitment to high standards in quality, security, privacy, and accessibility
  • Adaptability: Open to feedback and continuous improvement, with the ability to embrace new technologies and methods
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas effectively to a varied audience


Bonus Points

  • Shader Programming / URP: Experience with shader programming and optimizing graphics in Unity. Experience with URP
  • Additional Programming Languages: Proficiency in additional languages for tooling, backend services, or game logic scripting
  • Networked Game Experience: Familiarity with developing online multiplayer or social features
  • Cloud Services: Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) for game hosting, scaling, and online services integration
  • Security Measures: Understanding of online game security practices to prevent cheating and ensure player data protection
  • Audio Programming: Understanding of audio programming in Unity


For candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY and WA, the annual salary range is $145,000-$220,000, plus equity, bonus and benefits including healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, pet insurance, paid holidays, paid Scopely free days, and unlimited paid time-off. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
