About Sumo Digital, Newcastle

Located in the heart of the Northeast, Sumo Newcastle is a studio with a proven track record of delivering projects to a high standard, specialising in creating new IP with a focus on multi-player action games – including the 2021 release Hood: Outlaws & Legends. Our team is built around its own unique cultural fit, with a welcoming mix of industry veterans and up-and-coming stars.

Day in the Life of a Senior Producer:

As a Senior Producer at Sumo Newcastle, you will have a key role in planning and organising a project and be responsible for delivering it on time, on budget and to a high standard. You will work closely with discipline leads and project stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks to deliverables.

An average day in this role includes daily “stand ups” where you will review task progress with the various teams you are responsible for. You will liaise with discipline leads and key staff on the project and organise/participate in playtests and well as planning meetings, sprint reviews or even stakeholder meetings (with external clients and/or Sumo Directors/Executives).

Please note, this role can be done on a fully onsite, hybrid or mostly remote basis with the UK. With our remote option, there will be an expectation for you to come to the studio once every 4 months for 1 week (travel and accommodation covered).

What you need to do this job:

• Strong experience in a Production role, with at least 1 shipped console and/or PC titles.
• Experience with Project Management software (E.g. Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Excel).
• Excellent Project Management skills with ability to create detailed schedules and road maps.
• Have an understanding of various Agile methodologies.
• Strong line management skills, coaching and ability to mentor Junior Producers.
• Ability to correctly prioritise risks and execute appropriate mitigations strategies.
• Good conflict resolution skills, supporting team members to find the best solutions to issues.

Interview Process:

At Sumo Newcastle, we want a holistic and engaging interview process that allows us to get to know you, your skills and your potential. For our Senior Producer role, we will do a 2 stage interview:

1st Stage: 1-hour with our Senior Development Director and Producer. We will talk with you about your experience, our expectations in the role and ask some competency-based questions. There will, of course, be opportunities for you to ask questions!

2nd Stage: This will be split into 3 x 45 min group interviews. Ideally this would be a face to face meeting (so we can take you for some lunch!) These interviews will be more technical based and a deep dive into your experience. This will also be a great chance for you to speak to many different people across different disciplines with the studio.
