Scopely is looking for a Principal Engineer to join our Star Trek Fleet Command team in Shanghai.

Star Trek Fleet Command's ongoing success goes from strength to strength. Our in-house developed 4X MMO was launched in 2018 and continues to evolve, being consistently one of the top 10 gross revenue Massive Multiplayer Strategy games on the market.

What You Will Do

• Work with our MMORTS game services, which support millions of daily players
• Improve our developer experience through process and technology improvements
• Increase our game quality and reduce costs of operation through profiling and improving code and architectures
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills and a dedication to continuously improving application performance and scalability
• Participate in code review to ensure high-quality, clean coding standards are met
• Collaborate with our Publishing Partners as well with our central Technology Teams in Europe and the USA
• Be part of the on-call schedule to support our publishing partner with urgent and tricky issues
• Implement features and changes needed to make STFC successful in China
• Fix bugs and crashes
  
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• Highly experienced being part of a professional development team or other relevant area
• Experience in developing highly available back-end systems and servers for large-scale
• Strong development skills in Python
• Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, Containerization technology and Microservice system, as well as Redis, MySQL (or similar database systems)
• Experience with stateful and stateless game server architectures
• Good understanding of how to prevent intrusions, injections, cheating etc.
• Experience in large or medium-sized online games
• Experience in version control, especially multi-track development and familiarity with deployments methodologies and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with automated testing
