Scopely is looking for a Tools Engineer to join us in working in our Culver City studio hub, or remotely within the U.S.!

We are in the development stages on one of our new unannounced projects. Looking for passionate game makers to collaborate, get in early and make their mark on this exciting venture!

What You Will Do

As a Tools Engineer, you are responsible for creating, implementing and ensuring our team can improve and implement data validation and web-based workflows for our design and LiveOps teams.

You will work closely with the Technical Directors, server engineers, designers and live operations team. You are responsible for implementing and improving tooling for our team to reduce human error and risk to back-end workflows.

  • Improve data import pipelines to reduce friction and add visibility to the status
  • Add and enhance data validation during the import process to maintain data integrity on game servers
  • Implement comprehensive error and exception handling in the C# .NET server application and automation pipelines
  • Create detailed error logs to reduce debugging time for developers
  • Enhance tooling for transferring/promoting data between server environments
  • Develop AWS server environment tooling to automate the destruction, creation, and cloning of AWS environments
  • Implement GUI features and improve the admin dashboard to support the LiveOps team
  • Create and improve tooling for Localization pipelines
  • Perform data inspection (Protobufs, DB), analysis, verification, and diff tooling
  • Create tests to enhance CI/CD reliability
  • Collaborate with the development team on implementation details and technical planning
  • Implement Tooling via GUI suite (web tools) based on critical workflows used daily by the LiveOps team
  • Create and maintain documentation on processes and technical details
  • Identify risks in our product and tooling and collaborate on solutions


What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in software engineering
  • Confident and experienced C# .NET developer
  • Experience working with JavaScript, Angular 4+
  • Familiarity with CI/CD platforms for server applications
  • Theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS services
  • Proficiency in using GitHub
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex problems
  • A proactive and self-motivated attitude with a passion for continuous improvement and learning
  • A positive personality
  • A customer-focused mindset


Bonus Points

  • AWS certification(s)
  • Agile development experience
  • Experience working with Unity game engine
  • Experience working with Cloud Content Delivery


For candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY and WA, the annual salary range is $107,000 - $136,000, plus equity, bonus and benefits including healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, pet insurance, paid holidays, paid Scopely free days, and unlimited paid time-off. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
