About the role:
Amber is seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead (Engineering) to join our team. As the Technical Lead, you will oversee the technical aspects of development for game performance monitoring tools. You will work collaboratively with our DSS team ensuring the performance reporting and monitoring tools developed provide the support needed for multiple titles and partners. Additionally, you will be responsible for project-wide task estimations to support staffing and development cost planning.
You will interface with development teams across the globe but will primarily work with the development team located in Romania.
The Quest:
What will you do:
- Act as a technical lead for performance monitoring tools.
- Interface with other technical experts to establish a development roadmap for both Front-end and Back-end products.
- Participate in customer-facing meetings to gather technical requirements and details.
- Evaluate technical documentation or software provided by customers.
- Collaborate with production to establish roadmap and deliverables
- Develop comprehensive technical proposals, including team composition, task breakdown, and delivery timeline.
- Provide project-wide task estimations to support staffing and development cost planning.
- Review and provide guidance on the technical architecture for the tools developed.
- Ensure technical involvement in projects while not necessarily coding day-to-day alongside the teams.
- (Occasionally) perform Feature Development, primarily on core features/components.
- Debug code and perform bug fixes to ensure high-quality and stable software.
- Oversee Backend feature development and guide backend team on functional requirements. You'll need to understand the high-level basics of BE architecture and BE-FE integration.
- Coordinate Production Pipeline (CI/CD) requirements and tasks with internal and external teams.
- Review and Support Project Performance Monitoring and Improvement.
We are pretty sure that you will not do:
- Task Tracking (You will speak to DMs who are responsible for this and determine course of action should deadlines be missed repeatedly)
The Skills:
- Solid technical knowledge across multiple areas.
- Significant Experience with Android native development and scripting programing languages (Python and/or JavaScript).
- Excellent soft skills and communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Strong proficiency in English.
- Experience in Designing Architecture and design principles and patterns
- Experience interfacing with and guiding front-end and backend teams.
- Experience with Jenkins or other CI/CD toolchains
- Experience with SCM such Perforce, Git, Plastic, etc…
- Experience with optimizing apps/games that run on mobile
- Experience with building tools
Nice to have:
- Expertise in Unity, C#, and iOS development.
- Backend Development Expertise (preferably with GCP and AWS)
- Strong Debugging Experience (Xcode Instruments, Android Studio Profiler, AGI, Unity profiler, Unity Frame Debugger, Unity Memory Profiler)
- Knowledge about Android rendering pipeline
- PC/Console development experience.
