Role

We are looking for a Technical Audio Designer to work on current and future projects at Heart Machine! Become a part of our tight-knit (and growing) team to help make our games more alive and vibrant.

You will play a key role in bridging the gap between audio and engineering, with space to leverage your creativity and ingenuity to solve a variety of challenges. If you enjoy challenging yourself to design and implement dynamic audio systems across all aspects of game design, this may be the perfect home for you.

Responsibilities

  • Interface between audio and other departments to implement systems for audio features, such as music, ambience, and combat.
  • Develop technical solutions that are reliable, flexible, and performant
  • Assist in managing middleware projects, enforcing good structure and performance
  • Debug and maintain existing audio systems

Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Expert in audio middleware such as Wwise and FMOD
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine 4/5 and Blueprints
  • Good knowledge of C/C++ programming languages
  • Visual Studio experience

  • 5+ years professional game development experience
  • Experience implementing audio systems in 1 shipped title
  • Flexible and adaptive to challenges in a small studio environment
  • Knowledge of audio techniques and an ability to identify audio issues by ear

Salary

In the United States, the standard base pay range for this role we have estimated is $61k - $120k Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.

Most staff maintain hours around 9a-6p PST. So long as you get the work done and are there for the meetings you are needed in, we trust you to manage your own time however makes sense to you.
