Experienced Programmer - Hearts of Iron
Paradox Development Studio is looking for a C++ Game Programmer to build features and game systems for our game Hearts of Iron, using our in-house engine. You will be a fundamental part of creating fun and rich strategy games that keep players engaged for years.
Hearts of Iron has over 1 million fans playing the game every month.
About the Role
We’re looking for an Experienced Game Programmer with a strong C++ background. The perfect candidate is someone who understands strategy games and is driven by creating the best experience for the player. We value prior experience from playing or modding our games, but a general interest in game design and UX is also good.
You will be developing features and systems alongside designers and artists and fundamentally shape the games we release. Our developers have a high level of ownership over their work and it’s important that you can plan and manage your work efficiently. We expect you to solve problems and provide guidance in the team using your knowledge.
While Hearts of Iron’s current focus is on developing the live product, we are always looking towards the future. As a member of our development team, you will play an important role in helping us reach our goals in current and future ventures in the Hearts of Iron franchise.
If you want to make strategy games, intend to grow as a game developer and are interested in taking ownership of the features you develop, then make sure to contact us!
As an Experienced Game Programmer you will…
Build and maintain well-engineered C++ code with high levels of stability and performance.
Design and implement features in multiple areas such as gameplay systems, user interface, graphics, our scripting language and optimization.
Collaborate daily and estimate tasks with other programmers, designers and artists.
Continue to level-up as a programmer through internal workshops, code reviews and both giving and receiving guidance and feedback.
Requirements
3+ years of professional C++ experience
An interest in strategy games and Paradox Grand Strategy in particular
Comfortable communicating with English, both written and spoken
Good debugging skills
