We are looking for a talented Lead User Interface Artist to be a part of our Art Team. As a Lead User Interface Artist, you will be responsible for creating and implementing an array of UI components (icons, HUD, menus, effects, and animation), maintaining a consistent style throughout the project, and enhancing the immersive gameplay and usability experience. The right candidate for this position looks for opportunities to mentor and coach their team while collaborating across disciplines to ensure gameplay spaces are intuitive and provide visually appealing user interfaces. This role will report to the Creative Director.

Responsibilities

 

  • Create and implement a large array of UI components which includes icons, HUD, menus, effects, and animations
  • Collaborate with the Creative Director and other Department Leads to establish UI art direction, brand, and style guides, maintaining a consistent style throughout the project, enhancing the immersive gameplay and usability experience
  • Collaborate and liaise with Artists, Designers, and Programmers in the implementation of UI features 
  • Collaborate with game designers and UX designers to create and maintain intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces
  • Collaborate with Outsource Production for UI assets, to ensure delivery of work to specification
  • Work with, and lead the UI Art team in creating UI assets: maintain consistency across the department providing direction and feedback, ensuring all team members understand their role in the department and know what is expected of them
  • Work closely with production on roadmaps and deliverables
  • Lead team meetings and relay important studio information when required
  • Work closely with department manager to provide mentorship and coaching for UI Art team members including but not limited to: 1:1s, career development, performance evaluations, and goal setting
  • Playtest with both the studio and the UI team to review and iterate on in-game UI

Requirements

 

  • 7+ years of experience in game development with one or more shipped titles on multiple platforms in a leadership role 
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates experience in creating menus, icons, motion design work for games, and style guides 
  • Demonstrated experience working with modern FPS engines (UE4, UE5, etc.) and modern UI pipelines
  • Proficiency with Unreal Motion Graphics UI Designer
  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite and Figma
Preferences

 

  • Experience with AAA First Person action titles 
  • Familiarity with asset tracking and issue tracking tools such as Perforce and Jira

The estimated base pay range for this role is: $135,000—$180,000 USD
