To this end, we are seeking an experienced Senior Procedural Technical Artist  who can join our team and help pave the way towards our new goals.


About the position
About the position: 

The role of the procedural artist is to work with multiple disciplines including Environment art, Level Art, Tech Art, Character Art and Engineering. 
He/She will create procedural tools that help these disciplines to iterate and automate work. 
They will report to Technical Art Director and work with Lead artists to push the creative aspects of the game creation. 
The primary tool used for day to day work would be Houdini but proceduralism is not limited to a single tool and can be extended to other tools.
Responsibilities
  • Daily support art production with Houdini and set up pipeline about Houdini & UE4. 
  • Create Houdini HDA for game engine use(procedural object, terrain processing, etc) 
  • Apply optimization to her/his work and work within the engine constraints; 
  • Daily support for Art and Tech teams.
  • Recognizing inefficiencies and pipeline issues, and identifying solutions with Houdini or Other procedural tools.
  • Creation & maintenance of documentation for Technical Art features and tools to provide for the team. 
  • Liaise between Art and Engine programming teams on a daily basis to facilitate production needs. 
  • Research and prototype useful methods for automatization of the development of game worlds. Constantly keeping up-to-date with the changes in the game technologies; 
  • Be flexible and able to adapt to different technical/engine pipelines. 
  • Educate and articulate concepts relating to Procedural and Parametric Content Generation to the game team through presentations;

  •  能够发现与识别项目管线的问题与不足,并且能够提出使用Houdini或者其他流程化工具改进项目的方案;
  •  能够编写与维护相关工具与流程的技术文档;
  •  能够协调美术团队与程序团队之间的日常沟通,确保生产需求的准确性;
  •  能够研究与开发游戏研发中自动化相关的方案。不断保持学习前沿技术;
  •  能够灵活适应不同项目与引擎的管线;
  •  能够与开发团队定期分享PCG相关的经验与知识。

Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience. 
  • Proficiency in procedural tools such as Houdini, ability to set up and manage pipeline. 
  • Familiar with 3D assets creation process and software, like Maya, Max, Blender, Substance, etc. 
  • Be proficient in Python and VEX. MEL, Max Script, C++ is a plus. 
  • Participate in sharing practices with other procedural artists. 
  • Provide usable tools for content creators based on their feedback. 
  • Familiar General art production issues. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally. 
  • English language skills are required. 
  • Console or mobile development experience is a plus. 
  • Good understanding of real time graphics rendering pipeline. 
  • HLSL or GLSL experience is a plus. 
  • Experience with middleware such as SpeedTree, Simplygon, FaceFX, etc. is a plus. 
  • Graphic Program background is a plus.
