Life Beyond Studios is looking for a talented Lead Engine Programmer for our upcoming open-world MMO game, Life Beyond.

As a Lead Engine Programmer, you will work with Unreal Engine to help bring our game to life. You will support gameplay programmers by extending features and improving performance. You will empower designers and artists by creating tools and by supporting them in their creative process.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Tech & Tools team: Planning, Technical Mentorship, Career development and Guidance
  • Define the architecture and technical direction of the Tech & Tools code in close collaboration with the CTO
  • Design and enforce good programming practice and high quality standards, through both human and automated processes
  • Ensure the performance and stability of the game as well as the speed of iteration of the production toolchain from the editor, to the continuous interaction and release processes
  • Stay close to the code by implementing yourself features in every part of the technology stack
  • Preferred experience

  • Tech and Tools programming experience according to your skill level (For Junior applicants: 1+ year of professional experience or significant experience in hobby projects. Junior positions are on-site in Paris only.)
  • Very strong C++ skills with excellent software architecture and low level knowledge
  • Knowledge of C#, Python, Windows and Linux programming
  • Concern and sensibility for performance, memory usage and network bandwidth
  • Appetite for learning and staying ahead of the curve by keeping in touch with cutting edge techniques
  • Strong communication skills in english, comfortable working with non-technical people and remote teams
  • Passion for making games, self-motivation, driven to creatively solve problems, interest and willingness to participate in all the aspects of game development
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4
  • Experience building tools with graphical user interfaces
  • Experience with client/server architecture and multiplayer games
  • Cross-platform experience: PC, Linux, Consoles…
  • Personal interest in MMO games and virtual worlds
