ABOUT THE POSITION

As a Lead Game Designer, your duties will include leading a group of game designers and translating the design director's vision into a playable experience. You will work on large-scale initiatives that are expanding in a job-creation environment with a seasoned team.

WHAT YOU WOULD REALLY BE DOING

  • Working together with the Design Director and the Director of Product to help bring a game vision to life by identifying who the target audience is, what excites them, and how we can create a suite of features and content within games that appeal to these players.
  • Assume responsibility for the game mechanics and strategies, make decisions on how to use them in the game, and collaborate closely with the Programming, Animation, and Designer departments to advance development in the direction of the game vision.
  • Monitor the game designers' work, provide them feedback, and aid them in setting priorities and carrying out their assignments. Inform the producer and, if necessary, the Design Director of their progress.
  • Explain to the game team the significance and role(s) of the features.
  • Check the documentation on a regular basis to ensure it is up to date.
  • Actively participate in production planning and define the game design team's roadmap with the producer.
  • Evaluate the game's success by tracking how well objectives are met.
  • Adjust the game to be in sync with the Design Director's vision and the client's expectations (with high-end quality in mind).
  • Define the playstyles and tactics that the targeted players will employ during the game.
  • Guide the team toward a positive work dynamic that honors their skills and supports autonomy and innovation.
  • Collaborate with developers to establish the tools needed to implement and alter game systems.

You'll be part of an agile, multidisciplinary, and creative team and will collaborate closely with them to get the finest results possible.

You'll think creatively, be driven by challenges, and strive for excellence all the time.
You'll be working with cutting-edge technology, and if you require software or hardware to get the task done quickly, you'll be able to obtain it.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 4-5 years of experience as a Senior or Lead Game Designer is required (with at least 1 title shipped preferably on AAA games).
  • Extensive experience in game design and team management.
  • Excellent communication and project management abilities, as well as the ability to prioritize while keeping a strong team spirit.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with a variety of audiences (customers, team members, top management...) on a wide range of issues, including technical, business, and creative (spoken and written).
  • Extensive video game culture and vision of them as product

DESIRABLE

  • Creative writing skills are required for both game and reporting and selling the vision.
  • Coding and prototyping expertise in Unreal Engine, as well as experience with design tools such as Adobe XD or Figma
  • Experience in live ops games, A/B testing, and telemetry.
  • Passionate about the action game genre and AAA releases.
  • Experience with JIRA task management
  • Understand design thinking and Agile methodologies.
