Job Description

People Can Fly is looking for a business minded Product Manager with technical understanding and a proven track record in delivering Software as a Service (SaaS), who will be responsible for developing the shared front-end and backend functionality of both internal and player-facing online services used in the games, produced by People Can Fly.

These server-deployed services include game server orchestration, user account management, authentication, player inventory, cross-platform squad/lobby, running events, cross-platform friends lists / clans, matchmaking, in-game economy, dynamic game tuning, voice chat and many others.

The role involves capturing requirements from the publishing stakeholders, PCF’s central tech team and our game teams, understanding and representing the needs of our players and based on those, setting up business objectives and a corresponding product strategy for the PCF’s online service platform.

As a Product Manager, Online Services, you will be expected to act as a communicator, coordinator, organizer, and facilitator within the Online Services team. You will be responsible for communicating progress and risks to key stakeholders while ensuring requirements compliance as well as managing product risks and deliverables. You will be expected to collaborate with other leads/managers in allocating resources and be involved in shaping the product features and roadmap.

This is a great position for someone with a strong background in technology and operating live services, but with aspirations for and strong skill sets in production or project management.

 

  • Collaborate with game development teams, product managers, operations teams, devops and security teams to Interpret business requirements and articulate the business needs to be addressed
  • Establish shared vision for PCF Online Services product across the company and building consensus on priorities leading to product execution
  • Create and execute a product roadmap through close collaboration with senior leadership (tech, business and product), operations and engineering teams
  • Build the Online Services team in accordance with the needs and requirements of the organization for GaaS games delivery and operations
  • Lead the online services team in creating, operating and assisting in the integration of online systems and solutions spanning backend services, Web apps and SDKs
  • Responsible and accountable for team efficiency, communication, managing product iterations, feed and validation of progress with PCFF and production teams
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies and processes to ensure the highest quality product platform 
  • Liaise with third parties to define our technology stack and help the company make the right business decisions by evaluating and communicating the opportunities, costs and value of various alternatives
  • Serve as a lead point of contact and ensure ongoing, transparent communication with a focus on expectations fostering trust with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Champion and oversee the adoption of the platform within game teams and ensure acceptance and delivery of value throughout the organization and externally to our player base
  • Communicate project status to key stakeholders and assess and address risks
  • Define and analyze metrics that inform the success of products, develop insights, and implement improvements

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of experience as a product manager in a SaaS/cloud-driven company
  • Successfully completed studies with a focus on computer science, business informatics, business administration or comparable background
  • Experience in owning and managing a product roadmap, crafting product requirements, and specifications
  • Experience leading a multi disciplinary team, managing performance, coaching and mentoring
  • Foundational project management skills and an understanding of the development cycle that includes overall organization, processes, and workflows
  • Understanding of backend and live services for games
  • Strong understanding of the gaming market
  • Experience with Live Service products, including concepts such as monetization models, transaction handling, user account management, inventory management, business intelligence gathering, user acquisition, onboarding / funneling, GaaS, in-game stores and currencies, etc
  • Experience with conducting product discovery and defining user stories
  • Experience with creating metrics plans and defining key performance indicators
  • Have technical aptitude alongside effective communication skills and the ability to adapt those skills across many different audiences (engineers, producers, executives, etc.)
  • Understanding the value of (in)formal networks, with experience in working with both external and internal stakeholders
  • Vision, road mapping, goal setting, spec writing, managing project execution, A/B testing, UI/UX wireframing, defining product roll-out strategy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, allowing for open, honest, and consistent communication
  • Experience of working with third party software and service providers managing business and software relationships
