Job description

There’s always a story to tell. As the cinematic designer, you’ll maximise your artistic flair and imagination to bring the world of Dolos to life. Using your technical skills and collaborating with other teams, you’ll create convincing and compelling cutscenes. If you’re a visual storyteller itching to build a new world, this is your role.

Responsibilities

Though primarily artistic, this role is also technical. Working closely with other departments, such as technical art and engineering, you’ll use your technical skills to solve problems and avoid friction with other aspects of the game.

But ultimately, your technical skills are there to complement your artistic ability. Using your strong sense of how game mechanics, pacing and cinematic storytelling work together to create narrative-driven cutscenes that make Life Beyond feel alive.

Throughout your mission to weave compelling story into Life Beyond and achieve its artistic ambitions, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Crafting cinematic cutscenes that tell the stories of Life Beyond.
  • Telling the story of Life Beyond by working with design, art, narrative and audio teams to create cinematic experiences.
  • Collaborating with the engineering and technical art teams to establish and maintain tools and the pipeline.
  • Inspiring storyboard artists and animators to create rich and engaging stories in Life Beyond with your exceptional storytelling ability.
  • Leveraging your technical ability to bring your artistic ideas into reality.

You give us your skills, dedication and enthusiasm, and here’s what you get back:

  • A competitive salary (based on experience) + stock options + 20% profit sharing
  • 35 days off per year
  • Flexible working hours without time tracking - we trust you to deliver on your work commitments
  • Choose where you wish to live between Paris, Barcelone, London or Montreal!
  • Choose your own software - we want you to be comfortable and efficient
  • Attend in-person events with the entire Darewise team twice a year
  • Visit your co-workers in other countries (up to twice a year)
  • Relocation packages, including EU working visa assistance if necessary
  • Public + private health insurance
  • 50% coverage of the cost of your public transport card
  • €500 per year to cover sustainable transportation costs, with the exception of cars, such as bicycle leasing costs, skateboards, etc

Preferred experience

  • Proven experience in Unreal Engine 4 + 5
  • A deep understanding of scene composition, lighting and character blocking.
  • Familiarity with character animation in games.
  • A positive, professional attitude. You’re proactive, attentive to detail, and can give and receive feedback.
  • A team player. You’re comfortable working with and advising non-technical people and remote teams respectfully.
  • Most importantly, a willingness to adapt and learn new tools.

Recruitment process

Your journey to Darewise starts with a preliminary application screening. Following that, there’ll be an HR interview, an Executive interview and a last interview with a lead. You may also have to complete technical proficiency tests depending on the role.

In exceptional cases, there may be exceptions or modifications to this process.

Note: Though located in Paris, we use English as our official language. So please send your application in English. We will reject applications in any other language.
