Technical Director, Frostbite Physics

As the Technical Director for Frostbite Physics, you will work with our experts and partners to build and direct the technical strategy for our team of 20 engineers. Be the technical leader of our experienced teams that powers the future of EA titles and pushes the boundaries of behavioural and visual quality in games. Collaborate with world-class engineers and artists across EA. We look after physics simulation technologies such as rigid body physics, collision, destruction, driven ragdolls, as well as cloth and hair within Frostbite.

You will report to the Engineering Manager for Frostbite Physics.

Responsibilities

• You will be accountable for the Frostbite Physics technical vision.
• You will collaborate with product leadership to create and support the roadmap for Frostbite's Physics technology.
• You will contribute to Frostbite's overall technical direction and architecture by working with other Technical Leads and Directors and our Architecture team.
• You will assist the team with assessing technical risk, and validating requirements, dependencies and estimates.
• You will identify opportunities to grow Frostbite's Physics technology, lead internal research and produce new ideas.
• You will lead and inspire the experienced software engineers and tech leads in the physics team.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with C++
• 5+ years of experience in Physics technology solutions and development, ideally in the context of AAA and/or mobile game development.
• 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership position including experience architecting and delivering large software projects.
• Experience of game platform performance & optimization and debugging skills. Advanced background in real-time systems and multiple hardware platforms.
• Experience navigating complex code bases and working with leads and partners to guide architectural decisions.
• Foundational mathematical knowledge.
