The Positive Play Group at Electronic Arts is changing the game for good. Our goal is to reimagine and rebuild the gaming experience to be an inclusive, fair and positive one for all players. We are part of the Experience organization, and you will report to the Director of Player Connection to help build a first-of-its-kind foundational technology to power the social ecosystem in and around our games, by enabling meaningful connections between our players, our games and our content.

Come join us! We're hiring a Social/Behavioral Scientist to join EA's Positive Play team.

The Opportunity Ahead: The Social/Behavioral Scientist will be an expert in why and how people connect on a human level and have a understanding of how interests and shared experiences bond people and increase trust and connectedness. You will work with the other specialists on the Social Accelerator team to understand, craft and apply behavioral insights to determine the steps for players to make and deepen connections within and outside of the game and address some of the most complex user needs and problems. You have practical / corporate experience beyond academia as a behavioral researcher and an undergraduate or graduate degree in behavioral science, behavioral economics, social or cognitive psychology, sociology, human computer interaction or a related field.

Responsibilities/Skills:

Use your expertise in Applied Behavioral Science to help create healthier short- and long-term behaviors through:

  • Behavioral Strategy: In collaboration with partners, determine the specifics of the target population and desired outcome behavior, including metric definition/status-quo measurement
  • Behavioral Evangelism: Be the voice of behavior-based user questions across the team and provide guidance around best practices
  • Behavioral Impact Evaluation: Evaluate, analyze and present to what extent the designed interventions materially improve the player experience
  • Expert in why and how people connect on a human level; neuroscience and behavior trends around social engagement
  • Understand how interests and shared experiences bond people and increase trust, connectedness
  • Determine the types of friendships/connections + expression through player personas
  • You will work with cross-functional partners in marketing, design, UX/UI, engineering, and product to craft and apply behavioral insights that address some of the most complex user needs/problems
  • Lead complex research through questionnaires sampling and weighing strategies
  • Provide thought leadership and implement strategy to create company understanding of behavioral science.

Qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience as behavioral researcher
  • 5+ years of experience using R, Python, SQL
  • Relevant corporate and/or product building expertise
  • Bachelor's Degree (with 4 or more years on-the-job experience) or MA/MS degree (with 2 or more years of on-the-job experience) in behavioral science, behavioral economics, social or cognitive psychology, sociology, human computer interaction or a related field.
