The Challenge Ahead

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Senior C++ Software Engineer to join our Characters team in Frostbite who are working on improving the visual quality of characters by:

  • Developing new workflows to allow content creators to create industry-leading character visual quality within Frostbite.
  • Pushing the boundaries of character fidelity and visual appearance by incorporating leading solutions and state-of-the-art techniques.

You will report to the project's Engineer Manager.

What a Characters C++ Software Engineer does at Frostbite

  • You will work with the Technical Lead, the Product Manager, technical artists and designers both in Frostbite and in other EA Studios to create end-to-end solutions in the Characters space.
  • You will guide technical discussions and cover every aspect of development in your domain of expertise, from requirements and design, to prototyping and discovery, to productization, optimization, and release.

Required skills

  • Familiarity with the following concepts, with expert technical knowledge of at least two of them, in the context of a game:
    • Blendshapes
    • Character deformation / deformers
    • Facial animation technologies
    • Rigging
    • Character / avatar customization systems
  • Technical ability in DCC development, specifically in Maya.
  • Some experience with compute shaders.
  • Some experience with general techniques for character visuals.
  • 5+ years of experience in C++.

Desirable skills (one or more is helpful)

  • Knowledge of game AI, animation, physics.
  • Experience with delivering tools and workflows at an enterprise-level to empower content creators.
  • Experience in Agile (Scrum) project management and software development methodology.
  • Knowledge of the end-to-end of game engine systems.
