The Challenge Ahead

As part of the Analytics Solutions team, you will design and own the data architectures which will support to depict player evolution year-over-year in AAA titles in a dynamically changing technology landscape.

You will be expected to engage with a wider range of stakeholders including game studios, the EA business at all levels, analysts, technology partners, and other cross-functional teams.

In addition, you will be looking at how to develop and provide high-level subject matter expertise on the analytics platform contributing to the development of the overall data strategy and supporting investment plans.

What a Director of Data Architecture does at EA

  • Own and drive the data architecture efforts within Analytics Solutions whilst ensuring compliance with the target reference architecture and EA’s architectural principles.
  • Lead the data architecture team by example, care for the team, and establish credibility with the quality of the team's deliverables.
  • Develop a high-level knowledge of the underlying data assets and data products and provide subject matter expertise on content, current and potential future use of data.
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and development execution of the data architecture design and data models.
  • Establish and enforce data representation, distribution, archiving & retention, protection, and quality standards for our data platform; and promote good data governance within the community.
  • Monitor systems’ data quality and provide stewardship in data governance programs.
  • Review changes to technical and business requirements and architecture, assessing their impacts on data systems, and ensure the impacts are communicated to appropriate parties.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, business glossary and data dictionary.

 

What skills does the next Director of Data Architecture bring?

  • Experience in technical leadership, managing data architecture teams, and setting architectural direction
  • Great communication skills – as you will be interacting with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels across the company
  • Proven experience in business requirements elicitation and definition, and translating business requirements into high-level design models
  • Hands on knowledge of foundational data architecture such as data warehouses and lakes, dimensional modeling and data life cycle management
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to think critically and analytically
  • Excellent SQL skills

What additional skills would be an advantage

  • Bachelor Degree in CS/Statistics/Math or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of work experience with enterprise data warehousing, data management, business intelligence and large-scale data solutions
  • Knowledge in the areas of Reference Data, Data Quality, Metadata Management
  • Understanding of Taxonomies and Ontologies
  • Familiarity with Big Data technologies including Hadoop, Hive, Spark, NoSQL
  • Experience with OLAP, columnar databases, MPP databases
  • Experience with languages for data manipulation and analysis like Python or R
  • Good knowledge of data privacy practices and laws (internationally)
  • Experience inventing data solutions – not simply using packaged software
  • Strong sense of ownership, passion to build quality products for massive scale in a collaborative and agile environment, and an excitement to learn
  • Familiarity with video game data domain and its life cycle
