Job description

As a Darewise Technical Artist, you will be the bridge between artists and engineers, ensuring an efficient art pipeline and optimized game.

You’ll work with technical excellence and have a thorough understanding of tech art principals whilst always keeping abreast of new techniques and technologies.

This is an opportunity for you to leverage your knowledge and passion for procedural generation, using tools like Houdini, to play a key role in the World-building requirements of our game.

Apply now to become part of an international, world-class team, and make your mark on our ambitious project, Life Beyond!

Darewise is committed to building a culturally diverse team and strongly encourages applications from female and minority candidates.

Please note that this position is either full-time on-site in Paris - or you can work remotely from your home anywhere in Europe.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with Art Director, artists, and engineers to carry out the technical and aesthetic vision for the game
  • Design smart assets, procedural and highly reusable systems to automate world building
  • As part of the Tech Art team, help to shape, develop and evolve Darewise’s art pipelines, including our tools, both outside and within the game engine
  • Structure the game’s art content, notably the folder structure and naming conventions
  • Help drive framerate and memory optimization of the game
  • Deliver technical art assets on time and in on-target quality

You give us your skills, dedication and enthusiasm, and here’s what you get back:

  • A competitive salary (based on experience) + stock options + 20% profit sharing
  • 35 days off per year
  • Flexible working hours without time tracking - we trust you to deliver on your work commitments
  • Choose where you wish to live! The company is distributed and will accommodate you wherever you are
  • Choose your own software - we want you to be comfortable and efficient
  • Attend in-person events with the entire Darewise team multiple times a year
  • Visit your co-workers in other countries for free (up to twice a year)
  • Access to digital book and game libraries

If you choose Paris and our headquarters as your base, here are some added benefits:

  • Live in Paris, one of the most iconic and exciting cities in the world!
  • Relocation packages, including EU working visa assistance if necessary
  • Public + private health insurance
  • 50% coverage of the cost of your public transport card
  • €500 per year to cover sustainable transportation costs, with the exception of cars, such as bicycle leasing costs, skateboards, etc
  • Access to physical book and game libraries
  • An ergonomic work set-up, with Herman Miller chairs and standing desks
  • Choose your own hardware - we want you to be comfortable and efficient

Preferred experience

  • 3+ years console or PC game development experience on products demonstrating a high visual bar, with one or more shipped titles in Unreal Engine 4, in a technical role.
  • Technical experience across multiple art disciplines including procedural generation of environment, shaders and PBR material creation, animation and rigging.
  • High level of proficiency with 2D and 3D art tools including, but not limited to: Maya, ZBrush, Houdini, Substance Designer/Painter, World Machine, and other state of the art DCC tools.
  • Experience with node based visual scripting languages.
  • Experience with python scripting and tools for art asset pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and debugging abilities.
  • Strong English and communication skills, comfortable working with multi-disciplinary and/or remote teams.
